After more than 10 years in the Microsoft Dynamics ecosystem, I’ve realized that the most valuable thing I’ve built isn’t just a piece of AL code or a successful implementation it’s the collection of “war stories” and lessons learned along the way.
Today, I’m officially stepping out of the shadows and into the community. Here is why I’m reviving this blog and what my journey from Navision to Business Central has taught me.
From Navision to the Modern Cloud
When I started my career over a decade ago, the landscape looked very different. We were talking about C/SIDE, Classic Clients, and the “Navision” brand was still fresh in everyone’s minds. Fast forward to 2026, and we are living in a world of AL language, VS Code, and a robust SaaS environment powered by the Microsoft Cloud.
Having navigated this transition as a Solution Architect, I’ve seen firsthand the hurdles developers and consultants face when moving from the “old way” to the modern, event-driven architecture of Dynamics 365 Business Central. My goal is to use this space to bridge that gap.
Why Now? (Moving Beyond the Classroom)
I’ve spent a significant portion of my career as a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT). Teaching has always been my passion, but a classroom physical or virtual has limited seats.
I’m starting this blog to:
- Scale Knowledge: Share technical deep-dives into BC development that can help a developer halfway across the world solve a “breaking change” at 2 AM.
- Focus on Add-on Development: Building for AppSource requires a different mindset than one-off customizations. I want to share my focus on modularity, performance, and the AL development lifecycle.
- Give Back: The BC community is one of the most vibrant in the tech world. I’ve benefited from countless forum posts and blogs over the last 12 years; it’s time I contribute my own “verified answers” to the mix.
What You Can Expect
This won’t just be a site for basic “How-To” guides. You can expect:
- Architectural Insights: How to structure complex Add-ons for long-term maintainability.
- MCT Perspectives: Tips on how to explain complex BC concepts to functional consultants and end-users.
- Real-World Pre-sales: How to bridge the gap between “what the customer wants” and “what the system can actually do.”
The Road Ahead
Twelve years is a long time, but in the world of Microsoft Business Applications, it feels like we are just getting started. Whether you are a veteran of the NAV days or a newcomer to AL, I’m excited to have you here.
Let’s build something great together.
